DAO Strengthening Victim Assistance and Disability Services
Development and Ability Organization (DAO) is a national NGO established in 2004, with over two decades of experience implementing programs across more than 24 provinces in Afghanistan. DAO promotes the rights, dignity, and inclusion of persons with disabilities and vulnerable communities through health, rehabilitation, education, livelihoods, child protection, and gender-responsive initiatives
DAO provided physical rehabilitation services to landmine survivors and persons with disabilities in Kunar and Uruzgan provinces. Services included physiotherapy, orthotic and prosthetic devices, and counseling, delivered through both fixed centers and mobile teams. Women, children, and people from hard-to-reach communities benefited directly from these interventions. These services improved mobility, independence, and access to essential healthcare. DAO’s work supports long-term recovery, social inclusion, and dignity for vulnerable groups affected by conflict
