Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Child Protection/ Social Worker is responsible for safeguarding children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence. The role ensures timely case management, psychosocial support, and advocacy, while strengthening family and community-based protection mechanisms.

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

Case Management

  • Identify, assess, and document cases of children at risk.
  • Develop individualized case plans with clear objectives and timelines.
  • Provide follow-up support, referrals, and monitoring.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data protection in all case files.

Psychosocial Support

  • Conduct home visits and psychosocial assessments when required.
  • Deliver counseling sessions for children and families.
  • Facilitate group activities to promote resilience and coping skills.

 Advocacy & Rights Protection

  • Represent children’s best interests in legal, health, and education settings.
  • Advocate for child rights in line with national and accepted frameworks.
  • Support reintegration of children into family and community settings.

 Community Engagement

  • Raise awareness on child protection issues through workshops and campaigns.
  • Strengthen community-based child protection committees.
  • Collaborate with schools, health centers, and local authorities.

Coordination & Networking

  • Work closely with law enforcement, NGOs, and government agencies.
  • Participate in child protection coordination meetings.
  • Contribute to inter-agency referrals and joint case conferences.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case files.
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and incident documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with donor and organizational reporting standards.

Other Duties

  • Monitoring classes regularly.
  • Monitoring the teacher's teaching process regularly.
  • Cooperation with teachers in making local teaching materials, lesson plans, and Student hygiene, in the management of class and school, and the Physical environment of the classroom.
  • Checking education materials sent through the logistics unit and reporting to related units.
  • Controlling the attendance of Teachers and students.
  • Taking part in SMS meetings monthly.
  • Follow-up on handover, integration, and upgrading classes.
  • Follow up on the findings of the Land for school construction.
  • Conduct orientation or training sessions for teachers if needed
  • Conducting and facilitating follow-up meetings with community influential people and networks within the communities.
  • Provide information about the availability and utilization of services to communities.
  • Collect feedback and complaints from community members through various channels
  • Ensure local coordination and collaboration with the key actor(s) such as the de facto authority, CSOs, and others.
  • And other related tasks are given by the related line manager

Job Requirements:

Job Requirements

 

  • 14th grade or Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology or any other related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in similar positions with national and/or international NGOs.

Required Languages – Excellent Pashto and Dari reading, writing, and verbal skills, Good in English, reading, writing, and verbal skills.  

  • Travel  The position will be based in the province, and residents of related districts are encouraged to apply for this position with frequent travel to the districts.

  • Proven experience in child protection, community engagement and participatory approaches.

  • Good communication and counseling skills
