ACBAR, as co-chair of the Accountability and Disability Inclusion Working Group (ADIWG), facilitated a Community Accountability Exchange in Herat, bringing together humanitarian actors, ADIWG members, local stakeholders and community representatives.
The session was supported by UNFPA, a fellow ADIWG co-chair, and Awaaz Afghanistan, whose analysis of community feedback helped shape the guiding questions.
Through group discussions, participants explored community needs and priorities, transparency, feedback and complaints mechanisms, disability inclusion and meaningful participation. They identified challenges and proposed practical recommendations to help humanitarian and development programmes better reflect community perspectives.
An Awaaz Afghanistan representative also explained how community members can raise concerns and follow up on feedback and complaints.
Accountability starts with listening. Stronger responses are built when communities have a meaningful voice.
