Strengthening Health & Nutrition Across Communities

Organization for Community Coordination and Development (OCCD), a national non-governmental organization established in 2013 and committed to empowering communities through integrated humanitarian and development assistance. OCCD currently operates across Herat, Helmand, Kandahar, Khost, Ghazni, Kunar, Laghman, Nuristan, Balkh, and Kunduz provinces, delivering programmes in health and nutrition, education, food security and livelihoods, WASH, construction, and emergency response.

During June, OCCD delivered essential health, nutrition, and immunization services across six provinces through projects supported by ECHO, GFFO, DRA, BMGF, and WHO. Health facilities provided more than 23,200 outpatient consultations, while nutrition teams screened over 6,300 children under five and pregnant and lactating women, identified children with severe acute malnutrition for treatment, and delivered infant and young child feeding counseling to more than 5,000 caregivers. Immunization services also reached thousands of women and children, contributing to improved community health outcomes.

Through these integrated interventions, OCCD strengthened access to life-saving healthcare and nutrition services for women, children, and crisis-affected communities, helping improve maternal and child health, prevent disease, and enhance the resilience of vulnerable populations across Afghanistan.
