Main duty and Responsibility
Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services
· Provide individual counselling sessions to beneficiaries experiencing psychosocial distress.
· Conduct group counselling and psychosocial support sessions when required.
· Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) during emergencies and crisis situations.
· Assess psychosocial needs and identify vulnerable individuals requiring specialized support.
· Identify severe mental health cases and facilitate timely referral to appropriate services.
· Support beneficiaries in developing positive coping strategies and stress management techniques.
· Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience among individuals and communities.
· Ensure a survivor-centered and protection-sensitive approach during counselling sessions.
Community Awareness and Outreach
· Conduct awareness sessions on mental health, stress management, psychosocial wellbeing, and stigma reduction.
· Support community-based psychosocial interventions and outreach activities.
· Coordinate with CHWs, social mobilizers, mother groups, and community leaders to strengthen community support systems.
· Promote safe and inclusive community engagement activities.
· Support integration of MHPSS activities with health, nutrition, RH, and protection programmes.
· Maintain confidential client files, counselling notes, and referral records.
· Support establishment and strengthening of referral pathways for mental health and protection services.
· Coordinate with protection actors, RH teams, health staff, and safeguarding focal points for case referrals.
· Follow up referred cases when required and ensure proper documentation.
· Coordinate closely with physicians, nurses, midwives, and social mobilizers for integrated service delivery.
· Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case discussions when required.
· Support psychosocial aspects of emergency response and outbreak interventions.
· Participate in supportive supervision, training, and review meetings.
· Ensure confidentiality, respect, dignity, and non-discrimination for all beneficiaries.
· Adhere to Concern’s safeguarding, PSEA, and Code of Conduct policies at all times.
· Ensure informed consent during counselling and referrals.
· Report protection, safeguarding, or security concerns through appropriate mechanisms.
· Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager relevant to programme objectives.
Monitoring and Evaluation
· Maintain accurate MHPSS records, activity reports, and monitoring tools.
· Support data collection, assessments, and psychosocial monitoring activities.
· Participate in programme evaluations, supervision visits, and quality improvement initiatives.
· Support the M&E team during monitoring and verification activities when required.
Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS):
- The concern is committed to CHS to ensure downward accountability. CHS standards guide Concern activities in all stages both emergency and development projects /programs. In Afghanistan, we also bounded our activities by Accountability framework and therefore any Afghanistan employees is responsible to comply with CHS principles and benchmarks as instructed by its policies and therefore make sure that all accept and implement CHS standards in all our activities.
- To give full support in relation to emergencies/ humanitarian operations when occurring in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond. This can include but is not limited to participation in the Concern Afghanistan Rapid Deployment Unit (CARDU) and deployment on emergency response teams
