Main duty and Responsibility
Nutrition Services
· Conduct MUAC screening and basic nutrition assessments for children under five and pregnant/lactating women.
· Identify cases of acute malnutrition and ensure timely referral to OTP/SC services according to national CMAM protocols.
· Provide individual and group counselling on IYCF practices, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, maternal nutrition, and hygiene promotion.
· Support growth monitoring and promotion (GMP) activities.
· Support follow-up of malnourished children and defaulter tracing when required.
· Provide counselling to caregivers on preparation of nutritious local foods and feeding practices.
· Support micronutrient supplementation and nutrition-related health campaigns when required.
Community Mobilization and Awareness
· Conduct nutrition awareness sessions at facility and community level.
· Coordinate with CHWs, FHAGs, mother groups, and nutrition volunteers to improve community nutrition practices.
· Promote community-facility linkage for nutrition services and referrals.
· Support outreach nutrition activities and awareness campaigns.
· Promote early care-seeking behaviour for malnutrition and childhood illnesses.
HMIS and Reporting
· Maintain accurate nutrition records, screening registers, and reporting tools.
· Support timely completion and submission of HMIS and nutrition reports.
· Track nutrition indicators and service utilization data.
· Report severe malnutrition cases and nutrition-related concerns according to reporting procedures.
· Coordinate with physicians, nurses, midwives, and EPI teams for integrated service delivery.
· Support integration of nutrition services with RMNCH, IMCI, EPI, and health education activities.
· Ensure availability and proper utilization of nutrition supplies and job aids.
· Participate in supervision visits, assessments, and review meetings when required.
· Ensure respect, confidentiality, and dignity for all beneficiaries.
· Adhere to Concern’s safeguarding, PSEA, and Code of Conduct policies at all times.
· Report protection, safeguarding, or security concerns through appropriate mechanisms.
· Perform any other duties assigned by the line manager relevant to programme objectives.
Monitoring and Evaluation
· Support routine monitoring and quality improvement activities.
· Participate in nutrition assessments, surveys, and monitoring visits.
· Support the M&E team during field monitoring and data verification activities when required.
Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS):
- The concern is committed to CHS to ensure downward accountability. CHS standards guide Concern activities in all stages both emergency and development projects /programs. In Afghanistan, we also bounded our activities by Accountability framework and therefore any Afghanistan employees is responsible to comply with CHS principles and benchmarks as instructed by its policies and therefore make sure that all accept and implement CHS standards in all our activities.
- To give full support in relation to emergencies/ humanitarian operations when occurring in any area that Concern Afghanistan will respond. This can include but is not limited to participation in the Concern Afghanistan Rapid Deployment Unit (CARDU) and deployment on emergency response teams
