Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective dispensing, storage, and management of medications. The role involves reviewing prescriptions, providing appropriate pharmaceutical guidance, maintaining accurate medication records, and supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care in accordance with hospital policies and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review prescriptions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate medication use before dispensing
  • Dispense medications accurately according to valid prescriptions and hospital procedures
  • Provide patients with clear instructions on medication use, dosage, storage, and possible side effects
  • Maintain proper storage, handling, and inventory control of medicines and pharmaceutical supplies
  • Monitor medication stock levels, expiry dates, and shortages
  • Ensure proper documentation of medication dispensing and related transactions
  • Identify and report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and other pharmaceutical concerns
  • Coordinate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication-related matters
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, pharmaceutical standards, and patient safety requirements
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy work area
  • Assist in inventory management and regular stock checks
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Pharmacy In-Charge or Hospital Management

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm, PharmD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution
  • Valid professional license or registration, where required
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a hospital or clinical pharmacy
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products, dispensing procedures, and medication safety

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of medication dispensing and pharmaceutical practices
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of medication storage and inventory management
  • Good communication and patient counseling skills
  • Basic computer and pharmacy management system skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment
  • High level of integrity, responsibility, and professionalism
